Women’s Retreat 2020

Come relax and take time for yourself!

Join the women of Ladue Chapel as we enjoy conversations, time to be mindful and to explore stories of women in the bible to help deepen our faith. During our retreat we will explore the stories of three women from the bible: Miriam, Hannah and Mary. Through their stories, we will listen for how God showed up in their lives in unexpected ways and how each responded to God’s activity by “singing a new song to the Lord.” Their stories will help guide us as we ask questions and reflect on our personal stories of faith.  Be sure to mark your calendars, invite your friends and  join us in January!

Speaker:

The Rev. Dr. Sonia Waters, who led our retreat last year is returning! Dr. Sonia Waters is an Episcopal priest and a Professor of Pastoral Theology at Princeton Seminary. She was in parish ministry for ten years, serving parishes in Brooklyn and New Jersey. She has a long interest in women’s issues, beginning with a minor in Gender studies at Wheaton College, work at a rape crisis center and a domestic violence shelter, and now teaches a class on the Pastoral Care of Women. She also teaches classes on addictions, death and dying, mental illness, and family systems. Her latest book is Addiction and Pastoral Care.

Additional spiritual practices available during the retreat:

An indoor, self-guided, labyrinth will be available to walk Friday evening and Saturday morning.
We will also offer yoga, led by Rev. Susan Hayes, on Saturday morning—everyone is welcome to
participate with no additional fee!

When is the retreat:

Friday January 24 and Saturday, January 25, 2020. On Friday, arrive as early as 4:00 p.m. Dinner will be served from 5:30-6:15 p.m. Our evening session will begin at 6:30 p.m. Later Friday evening, we will have time together with refreshments. On Saturday, we will conclude no later than 2:00 p.m.

Childcare:

Onsite childcare for children birth-5 years old will be provided on Saturday, January 25, 8:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m.  Childcare will be staffed by TLC caregivers. There is an additional cost of $10 per child, this will cover a midmorning snack as well as lunch. Registration must be completed by January 6!
**This is a child-friendly retreat—if a child comes for childcare and struggles with separation, they are welcome to join us in session.

4:00-5:30 p.m. –Registration and check-in
5:30-6:15 p.m. –Dinner is served
6:30-7:15 p.m. –First session-Introduction of weekend by Dr. Waters
7:15-7:30 p.m. –Break
7:30-8:30 p.m. –Second session-Evening Program
8:40 p.m. –Wine & refreshments

Saturday, January 25
7:00 a.m.– Coffee’s on!
7:00-8:00 a.m.—Yoga with Rev. Susan Hayes
8:00-8:45 a.m.– Breakfast is served
8:30 a.m. — Childcare opens
8:45-9:00 a.m. — Pack-up and checkout of rooms
9:00 a.m. — Commuters arrive
9:00 –10:15 a.m.— Third session
10:15-10:30 a.m.– Break
10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.– Fourth session
12:00-12:45 p.m.– Lunch is served
1:00 p.m.– Closing Worship
2:00 p.m.– Childcare closes & our time together ends
