Member Spotlight: The Crabtree Sisters

The Crabtree sisters, Lily 17, and Care, 14, are dynamic as a team yet they each possess and display different talents and interests. Ladue Chapel members have been fortunate enough to see the young women grow up as active church participants. 

Lily, a senior at Ladue Horton Watkins High School, loves to sing, read, study French, and ride horses. Cate is in eighth grade at Ladue Middle School and is passionate about dance and performing in school musicals. 

The girls’ parents, Tom and Laila Crabtree, have always encouraged and supported the girls’ involvement in Ladue Chapel activities. Both Lily and Cate sang in the Children’s Choir and still perform in church. They both served as acolytes and have helped with many programs for Ladue Chapel children, such as Vacation Bible School and Word and Wonder Sunday School. 

Lily is in the a capella choir “Vive Voce” (Life and Song) at school. She plans to study education at the University of Missouri-Columbia, hopefully in the Honors College. She says the hands-on opportunities at the School of Education are what convinced her to apply. “Mizzou has strong connections to many Missouri school districts. So many, that it enables some students to secure teaching jobs even before graduation!” 

Meanwhile, Care is studying dance five nights a week. The teen loves dance as a form of individual self-expression and as a team endeavor. Her studio focuses on classical dance, rather than competitions, which is perfect for a serious dancer like Cate. 

Together, Lily and Cate enjoy spending time at their extended family’s farm in Mount Sterling, Missouri. Lily is usually in the barn with the family’s two pet pasture horses, while Cate is bouncing on the farm’s trampoline with her cousins. 

Lily’s departure for college will be a big change for her family. We at Ladue Chapel will miss seeing her every week at church. But Cate knows that she and Lily will always share a strong bond in faith and as sisters.
